The Uganda National Farmers Federation (UNFFE) recognizes that livestock farming is not only a key source of food and nutrition but also an important driver of rural incomes and employment. Our Livestock Sector Programs support farmers engaged in both small-scale and commercial animal production, ensuring that the sector grows in a sustainable, competitive, and profitable manner
Focus Areas
1. Dairy Production
We work with dairy farmers to improve milk quality, enhance herd management, and adopt better feeding and breeding practices. Our programs also promote value addition through milk processing and dairy product diversification.
2. Beef Production
UNFFE supports cattle farmers to improve breeds, animal health, and pasture management for higher-quality beef production that meets both domestic and export standards.
3. Poultry Farming
We train farmers in modern poultry management, including disease prevention, hatchery management, and feed formulation, to boost egg and meat production.
4. Small Livestock Enterprises
We promote the rearing of goats, sheep, pigs, and rabbits as profitable, quick-return livestock options, especially for smallholder farmers.
5. Apiculture & Fisheries
Beyond traditional livestock, we encourage bee-keeping for honey production and fish farming as alternative income sources, supporting farmers with skills, inputs, and market connections.
